I really enjoyed this, it’s almost up there with Iron Man and Spider-man 2. Not quite that level, maybe in time it will be, but I would give this a 9 to their 10. As a hero in a different time you need to watch this movie a little differently. He’s not the dark, troubled, emo hero that we are used to these days. He’s Captain Goddamn America and fuck the Nazis and I love bright colors and flag costumes. It’s basically like if Iron Man was a World War II period piece. It did drag a bit, especially toward the end, and the final battle and place crash wasn’t quite satisfying as an ending. Of course we’ll have The Avengers, but it bugs me how it’s basically just a set-up for that instead of a totally solid stand alone movie.
Red Skull will be back I’m sure, no body=not dead. Even sometimes when there is a body it doesn’t mean dead. The tie-ins with Iron Man and Thor were nice, though it’s a shame that Stark isn’t played by the same actor as in the film reels from Iron Man 2. The special effects were top notch, even the shrinking of his body in the beginning. I thought it would be corny, but it was really cool.
