This exists to record my thoughts on movies, and occasionally other stuff. Too often my thoughts on something go unthunk for a while and eventually forgotten. I figure if I invested time in something in the first place, it's worth a few more minutes to make sure I remember it.

Stake Land (2010)

This came highly recommended by the Horror etc. podcast, they called it a true diamond in the rough, I’d say it was more like a cubic zirconium.  It was shot very well, the acting was pretty good, and the overall mood was perfect, but the story just didn’t do it for me, and nothing was spectacular.  Some of it was above average, fewer parts were below average, but there was very little that really wowed me.

The vampires were basically just night zombies, I prefer vampires that look more human.  And why did the guy get to be a super vampire at the end?  The ending of the movie was good, where the main guy just leaves the kid and the girl because he sees that he has taught him everything he needs to know.  I like to think that he then just headed south and did it all over again, he wouldn’t be happy just sitting pretty in Canada without vamps to kill everyday.
